We Do Other Things to Help, Too
You know to call us when you’re thinking of buying, selling or leasing your home, right? We’re always at the ready for that. But we encourage our clients and everyone we know to call us any time they have any kind of question relating to their home or to real estate in general. We always like to help whenever we can. What’s the point in having experience if you don’t share it? Not that we have answers to all the questions, but when we don’t know an answer to a question we’re almost always able to direct you to a person who WILL know the answer.
So please call us every single time you have a question and tell your friends and relatives they can call us, too. Here are some questions we’ve been asked recently to give you an idea of what you can ask, but there are no limits – ask us anything:
-We have a leaky toilet. Is there a plumber you recommend? (Or any type of contractor you can think of. We have a very extensive list of tradespeople.)
-We’re going to be selling our home next year. Is it worth it to renovate our kitchen? Will it increase the value of our home? What kind of kitchen do buyers want? Do you have a contractor you recommend?
-We’re trying to decide if we should add on or buy a bigger home. What do you think? How much would it cost for an addition? How much will a bigger home cost?
-Will you please look at the plans for our renovation (or new home) to see if there are any changes you’d recommend?
-We’re planning on moving in 3-5 years. What kinds of things should we do to our house to increase its value?
-Who should we talk to about financing before we start looking for our new home?
-Our neighbour’s contractor dug up part of our lawn today to pour the foundation for their new addition. Are they allowed to do that?
-A huge branch from our neighbour’s tree fell on our shed and damaged the roof. Are they required to pay for the repairs?
-We’d like to buy a cottage (or a home somewhere else in Canada). Is there a Realtor you know who specializes in that area who you’d recommend to help us?
-I’m in charge of selling my parents’ place in Victoria BC. Is there a Realtor you’d recommend to help me?
-We’re putting an offer in on a cottage and we’re in multiple offers. We have a Realtor we found on our own who’s helping us, but we trust your advice more. Can you help us with our strategy?
-We found a cottage (or home) we’d like to buy and it isn’t on the market. What should we be thinking about? What should we do? How do we figure out the price?
-We keep hearing that prices are going to plummet. Do you think that’s true?
-What’s the best time of year to sell if we want to get the best price? What’s the best time of year to buy?
-We’re living in Ohio now and found a building lot on a small lake we’d like to buy to build our dream home. How do we figure out what the lot is worth? How do we figure out if it makes financial sense to build a new house there? Would we be better off just buying a new house? How do we know what we’ll be permitted to build?
-What are the advantages and disadvantages to renovating versus buying a new home?
-Are we better off gutting and renovating an old home or tearing it down and building a brand new home?
-How long will it take us to build a new home once we find a building lot?
-My client (from a lawyer) is being sued by his Realtor. The Realtor is saying certain things that don’t make sense to me. Is it normal practice for a Realtor to do these things?
-I know you don’t live in Calgary, but our Realtor is telling us we should accept this offer. What do you think? Are there certain questions we should be asking?
These are just some of the many questions we get asked on a regular basis by people to give you a flavour of when you can call us. You don’t have to wait until you’re buying or selling. Please call us anytime. We’ll always be happy to hear from you.
