Buying a home is a big deal. It takes a lot of time; it costs a lot of money; and there are no refunds if you’re not happy with it. So how do you make sure you buy the right home?
It all starts at the beginning when you choose your realtor. I’m not out to sell you just any home. I want to find you the perfect home. It’s as simple as that.
What does your perfect home look like?
We don’t rush out to look at homes right off the bat. There’s really no sense in doing that until we know what you want.
We begin with a form that lists the features you’d like in your perfect home. Then we get together to talk about your perfect home in more detail, and so I can review the entire home buying process with you so you’ll know what to expect every step of the way. I’m going to listen very carefully to what you tell me so I’ll recognize your perfect home when I see it.
Now that we know what we’re looking for, off we go!
Let’s go see some homes!
A new listing can appear on the MLS system at any time of day. I look for new listings all day long so that when your perfect home comes along, I’ll be able to tell you about it right away. I’ll also set YOU up to receive all new listings automatically once a day so you can follow the market, too. Two sets of eyes are better than one.
When it comes to deciding which homes you’d like to see, everyone does things a little differently. Some people like to see a home as soon as it comes on the market. Others like to drive by it first to make sure they like its location and “curb appeal” (that’s realtorspeak for how the home looks from the street). And still others ask me to preview homes so they can decide if it’s worth their time to see the inside. The choice is up to you.
I’ve seen thousands of homes over the years so I’m always up to date with the market. I’ll be able to tell you about the different options available, the pros and cons of each home and the estimated value of the homes in which you’re interested. Be careful though – I’m pretty particular and want you to buy the perfect home so I may try to talk you out of buying a home that doesn’t suit your needs.
I’m also very patient. We’ll look at as many homes as you’d like to see and take as much time as we need to make sure you buy the right home.
It’s offer time!
Once we find your perfect home, we’ll discuss the details of what to include in your offer to make sure it’s to your liking. Then I’ll prepare the offer and review it with you so you’ll understand what you’re signing. Won’t it be comforting to know that your realtor is also a lawyer?
I really enjoy negotiating and have a lot of experience doing it. I’ll give you the same advice I’d give my mother and I’ll try to get you the best deal possible. I won’t ever pressure you to accept an offer you don’t like because I’m not interested in doing a quick deal so I can move on to another client. In fact, there will be times when it will be in your best interests to walk away from the negotiations, and I’ll be the first to let you know. You can count on me to be honest with you and to do what’s best for you.
After the deal is done
Don’t think that my work is done after the deal is done because it’s not. We don’t just shake hands and go our separate ways. I’ll always be happy to answer all your questions and help you any way I can because I consider you to be a client for life, not just when you’re buying or selling your home.
When you’re ready to get started, please complete the Buyer Questionnaire. If you aren’t quite there yet and would just like to see which homes are on the market now, I’ll be happy to send you listings. There’s no pressure.
