Home Inspection Shakedown
You’ve had your home listed for a while. You really want to sell. You receive an offer and enter into an agreement to sell your home for $1,000,000 conditional on a home inspection. After the inspection, the buyer says he wants a price reduction of $3,000 to fix some minor things. He’s entitled to do this, but you feel the purpose of an inspection is to make sure there’s nothing seriously wrong with a home and not to use it to renegotiate the price. You feel like this is just a shakedown, but there’s always the chance that the buyer will walk if you don’t agree to the price reduction. Would you reduce your price by $3,000 just to get the deal done or would you refuse to be bullied and stick to your price?
